Becoming Mumukshu, Sthitpragya and Nandi (Excerpt from Guru Purnima talk 2022)

The Sanskrit word Mumukshu means someone who is seeking seriously,
who really wants to understand ultimate truth,
who is looking for Moksha.

Anything and everything you do, you want to understand the ‘Other’.
But when you get into spiritual science and into spiritual practices,
it is all about understanding ‘Yourself’.

Who am I?
Why am I here?
Why did this happen today?

Buddha said, “ You are the sum total of your thoughts, feelings and emotions.” If I am that sum total of my thoughts, feelings and emotions, then whatever I’m experiencing in my life is because of ME.

Whatever we do is based on our own Inner understanding which give us certain results. So, if we really want to know who we are today, all we have to do is look at the circumstances around us and the kind of things that are happening in our life on a day to day basis.

If I attract everything in my life, then everything I get to experience and even get to see is created by me.

So when we talk about creation, it is not necessarily that you are consciously doing something to make something happen. It could also be that you have a certain frequency of understanding and that frequency is bringing things into your life.

It’s like sitting in front of a TV and tuning into a particular channel. When you shift the frequency, it takes you to another channel.

Do you know that you yourself are a Remote Control?

This Universe has all possible frequencies, meaning wherever you are, whatever you are tuning into, that is the kind of world that opens up to you.

Now, what kind of remote are you?

What are you emitting?
Your world that is around you is of that kind.

To change your frequency, you have to change
the kind of thoughts that you have,
the kind of emotions that you have. Then your energy will start changing.

When you start changing your energy, the kind of situations you are experiencing will also change. Life will become more and more full of ‘Santosha’.

Consciousness moulds matter, and through his thought processes and emotions, man creates his destiny.

Thoughts are the Foundation of Life.
Mind is always thinking, it decides how our life is going to be. Every thought that we think is creating something. Every thought that we have in our mind has a consequence.

What you think, you will speak. And if you are going to speak about it, you are making sure that you are going to make it happen.

So, what kind of consequences are you looking for in life ?
Go for beautiful consequences, which means go for good, positive, happy thoughts; go for empowering thoughts.

Therefore, you have to watch every Thought and every Emotion.

That is why Spirituality says : BE AWARE

What does AWARENESS mean ?

We don’t want you to be aware of what is happening ‘around’ you. We want you to be aware of what is happening ‘within’ you. If you are aware of that, your life is set. Let that be your goal for the year.

Inner World is the Foundation of our life and the Engine of Creation.
Thoughts, feelings and emotions are the creative engines of the inner world.

When you aspire, desire or you have an idea, there is a thought or a feeling or an emotion behind it. These are powerful things in the inner world and have a billion times more power than what you can do in the outer world.

Become a Mumukshu so that you are constantly looking forward to learning more and more and more.

And then become Sthitpragya, somebody who is constantly thinking about the Goal of Life.

It could be any subject that you are pursuing in your life. But from spiritual perspective, It’s only about YOU and your own Inner Growth.

And if it is to understand your own self, then ‘Sthitpragya’ means you are constantly focused on thinking about Brahm, Consciousness or Meditation.

Once you become Mumukshu, the Seeker, and Sthitpragya, focused on your Goal, the third thing that is needed is to become Nandi.

NANDI, the vahana or vehicle, of Lord Shiva is said to be always in a state of blissful Santosha, happy and joyful.

And he always sits outside expecting Shiva to come. There is no doubt in the mind of Nandi that it cannot happen.

When we sow seeds, we don’t take them out everyday to see if the roots are coming. We know it’s going to come.

In the same fashion when you start your spiritual journey you should have this conviction that “I’ve been taken care of”. The moment you think that you are taken care of, you will attract that into your life.

The day you start your spiritual journey the inner world appoints a Spirit Guide for you and they look after you 24×7 with special care.

Then there is nothing you can hide from that guide. If you are thinking something negative, it is like a loudspeaker in the inner world.

Here you feel nobody will hear. But, up there, they can hear everything clearly.

So much help out there. So much compassion out there for our growth. If only we put in a little effort.

And as you move into that, your life will change. You will move into a space which, for you at this point of time, is an unbelievable space.

Thus, Conscious Living is what you should aim at in this coming year. And if it becomes a part of you, it will take you further ahead.

If you are CONSCIOUS, you can never think anything that is not good. You will always catch yourself and correct yourself.

Today we are all in Mumukshutva. Today being Guru Purnima, is the most auspicious day in the year for a person who is seriously looking for ‘Contemplating on the Self.
So on that note, let us meditate.
